Claude Perusse

While not a graduate of Torrington High School, Claude Perusse has been instrumental in the support of many THS athletes through his involvement in community sports activities throughout his life time. Starting as a Torrington Little League coach in 1973, he went on to coach in the Babe Ruth League and became president of that league and is still a current member of its board of directors. As a volunteer in Torrington Pop Warner Midget Football he assumed positions of vice-president, president, board of directors, and vice –president of the Central Connecticut Pop Warner Football League. In honor of his father-in-law, Claude has been a trustee of the Omar Pollick Scholarship fund since 1974. This fund awards scholarships to deserving THS and OWTS seniors.

Claude has been past president and secretary of the Valley Park Athletic Club awarding scholarships to deserving THS and OWTS seniors. He is currently its secretary. In 1995 until recent years, Claude was involved with the score keeping and announcing for the Torrington Tri-State Rebels. He also continues with his volunteer score keeping and announcing for Torrington American Legion P38’s and Connie Mack Baseball. He has also filled in as an announcer for THS football games. From 1993 to 1997, he was the announcer for St. Paul’s High School for both football and basketball and was known as “the voice of the Falcons.”

Outside of the sports world, Claude has been very involved with his church. He has served as president of St. Peter Parish Council, past president and current member of St. Peter Holy Name Society and is presently an usher at the church. Claude joins his son Joseph, and late father-in-law, Omar Pollick, in the THS Athletic Hall of Fame.
