30 Titans in 30 Days...Day 22 Ryan Hardy
Hometown: Melrose, MA
Ryan Hardy will be a part of a Titans pitching staff that pitching coach Bobby Chatfield has described as extremely deep and versatile.
A righthander with a fastball that hovers around 90 mph to go along with a change-up and curveball, Hardy comes to Torrington looking to take his game to the next level in more ways than one.
After a year at Florence-Darlington Technical College where he was 3-1 with a 3.48 ERA, Hardy took last season off so is looking to open some eyes both so he can further a possible professional career while also looking to secure a place to play college ball next season.
Hardy was a teammate of former Titan Gabe Craven at FDTC and it was part of the reason he ended up as a Titan for 2013.
"I played a season of Junior college ball with Gabe who played with the Titans and he helped refer me," Hardy said. "Misha called me up and asked me if I wanted to play here and I am excited about the opportunity."
With the growing reputation of the FCBL as well as coach Misha Dworkin's contacts in the game, Hardy is hopeful that his performance this summer will result in a landing spot in college come fall.
"I have had some contact with Tallahassee Community College and am waiting to hear from them," Hardy said. "Misha said he can find me a place to play so I just want to see what I can do here, put up good numbers and see where I can find a place to play."
As well as find a place to play for the remaining three years of college eligibility he has left, Hardy also wants to improve and knock off some of the competitive rust.
"I'm looking to work on mechanics and get better," Hardy said. "I didn't pitch any innings in the spring so I want to come in and get some work done and get some innings under my belt."
