With the 2014 football season but 31 days away, the American Athletic Conference unveiled their pre-season poll during their media day in Newport, Rhode Island.
The University of Connecticut Huskies are ranked near the bottom, tied with Tulane and just ahead of Tulsa who came in last in the 11-team league.
UConn gets underway on Friday, August 29 when they take on BYU at Rentschler Field in East Harford at 7 p.m.
After finishing the 2013 campaign on a three game winning streak that left their record a dismal 3-9, the AAC is clearly sending a message that they want to see something from new head coach Bob Diaco and his staff before buying into the fact that the Huskies may have a better season in 2014.
Here’s the full poll:
1. Cincinnati (17) 311
2. UCF (7) 296
3. Houston (6) 268
4. East Carolina 262
5. SMU 158
6. USF 157
7. Memphis 133
8. Temple 105
9. UConn 98
9. Tulane 98
11. Tulsa 94
