                                          Bears hand Nonnewaug first loss

           WOODBURY – Thomaston used a 10-point run midway through the fourth quarter to erase a three-point deficit and hand Nonnewaug its first loss of the season, 46-41,  in Berkshire League girls basketball action Tuesday night.

            The two teams both sport 11-1 records and meet again the last game of the regular season in Thomaston.

            The Bears trailed,. 37-34, with six minutes left in the game before Maggie Eberhardt scored six points in a little over a minute, including a huge three-pointer, to highlight the 10-point run and give Thomaston a 44-37 lead.

            Thomaston built up a 25-12 lead in the first half before going on a long scoring drought (two baskets in 14 minutes) while Nonnewaug mounted a comeback. Eberhardt led all scorers with 22 points while Abby Hurlbert added 12.

            Nonnewaug was led by Katie Burke with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
