Berkshire League, led by Thomaston, prepare for State Tournament action.

TORRINGTON: Their Class S State championship defense officially starts on Thursday, March 5 when the Thomaston Golden Bears girls’ basketball team hosts a first round game after an opening round bye.

The Bears, who come in ranked #3 with a 17-3 record, will take on the winner of the Two Rivers (#14, 10-6) and O’Brien (#19, 10-10) at THS on Thursday, March 5 at 7 p.m.

Thomaston plays for the Berkshire League Tournament title on Friday night versus Nonnewaug as they continue to prepare for their defense of the title.

The Chiefs (#11, 16-4) are in Class LL and will host Fairfield Ludlowe (#22 11-9) on Tuesday, March 3 in Woodbury.

Also making the cut in Class S are Shepaug (#13, 13-7) who will host St Bernard (#20, 10-10) while Gilbert, Housatonic and Wolcott Tech will be on the road for first round action.

In Clamm M. Lewis Mills (#7, 15-5) will host Tolland (#26, 10-10) while Northwestern (#27, 10-10) will travel to battle #6 Suffield (15-5).
