The career of freshman forward De’Janae Boykin is over before it even began at UConn. Huskies’ coach Geno Auriemma announced Tuesday that she has decided to transfer.
Boykin did not play in any of the first eight games for top-ranked UConn due to an Achilles injury. She was also dealing with academic issues as she did not travel with the Huskies to games at Chattanooga Nov. 30, DePaul Dec. 2 and Colgate Dec. 9.
``Recently De’Janae expressed her desire to be closer to home,” Auriemma said. ``She is a great kid and I am glad I was able to get to know De’Janae and her family. The entire coaching staff and team wish her nothing but the best in the future.’’
Boykin will finish her final exams this week prior to completing her transfer.
