COVENTRY/WINDHAM TECH VS. GILBERT/NORTHWESTERN

WHEN: Friday. 7 p.m.

LOCATION: Van Why Field, Winsted

2010 RECORDS: Gilbert/NW 9-3, state semifinalist; Coventry/WT 7-3

LAST SEASON: Coventry/WT 28, Gilbert/NW 20

TISCIA'S PICK: Gilbert/NW 22, Coventry 14

Despite losing Bobby Lippincott, arguably the best player in the program's history, don't expect the Yellowjackets to lay down and play dead. With a strong coach (Scott Salius) and the co-op with Northwestern in place, the days of being satisified with three-win seasons are over in Winsted. Keep on the lookout for Bobby's brother, John Lippincott, who is expected to see more playing time this season. Also senior Devon Molway, a critical player for "GN" since he was a sophomore, and his 1,400 yards from last year returns as well as J.P. Dulac, one of the better kickers in the state. While it may be asking a lot for a repeat trip to the states, a winning season is certainly a possibility.
