TORRINGTON VS. WOODLAND

WHEN: Friday, 7 p.m.

LOCATION: Woodland High School, Beacon Falls

RECORDS: Torrington 3-2, Woodland 4-1

LAST WEEK: Torrington 31, Naugatuck 27; Woodland 27, St. Paul 17

LAST SEASON: Woodland 30, Torrington 20

TISCIA'S PICK: Torrington 33, Woodland 24

The Red Raiders are coming off their biggest win in some time at Naugatuck last week, but still have to clean up areas of concern. Notably, their special teams may be what stands in their way of being a "special team." (Horrible pun, I know) Last week, Naugatuck returned a kickoff for a touchdown and Torrington then squib-kicked the rest of its kickoffs the rest of the night, giving the Greyhounds the ball near the 50 on every possession. That is not a recipe for success. However, the Raiders do have Brenden Lytton, who continues to pile up obscene numbers, and an improved passing attack, led by new quarterback Phil Bresson. This one will not be easy, but it's hard to bet against Lytton.
