Four Torrington Titans make
TORRINGTON: Four Torrington Titans have made the Perfect Game list of the Top 30 Prospects in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League for the summer of 2013.
Michael Odenwaelder (Wamogo, Amherst College) led the way as the seventh overall choice based on a monster of a summer for the Titans, who finished with a 22-28 record.
The former Warrior three-sport star batted .258 with five home runs and 31 runs batted in while appearing in all 50 games for Torrington.
Add six outfield assists to a team high 48 hits and 26 runs scored and you can see why Odenwaelder ranked in the top 10.
Catcher Conor Fitzsimmons (sophomore, CCSU) came in at number 17 in the rankings thanks to a 34 game season that saw him hit two home runs (including a grand slam) while driving in 15.
Fitzsimmons drove in six runs in an 11-5 win by Torrington over North Shore on August 6th as the Titans fought for one of the remaining playoff spots.
CJ Saylor (Jr, San Diego State) came to Torrington late in the summer but was highly thought of coming into the summer and was ranked 19th overall. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2012 in the 33rd round but decided to stay in school.
Jason Byers (sophomore, Marietta College) earned a spot in the Top 30 at 24 with his efforts on the mound that saw him strike out 31 in 32 innings pitched.
