At Plumb Hill Rd., Litchfield
Friday's Berkshire League showdown between its last two unbeaten girls teams
- 6-0 Lewis Mills and 6-0 Litchfield - never materialized.
The Spartans jumped out to a 2-0 lead just 8:15 into the game and then
dominated throughout, easily beating the Cowgirls 6-0.
Senior Lindsay Muri scored her league-leading 10th and 11th goals of the
season, junior Paige Marinelli had a goal and two assists, and seniors Bobbi
Bergstrom and Carly Marenna each had a goal and an assist to lead the potent
Mills' attack. Freshmen Bailey Pace scored after a gorgeous pass from senior
Katherine Bayne to finish off the rout at 68:04.
"We have so many weapons on the field right now its impossible to defend
them all," Mills coach Dennis Fowler. "Plus, this is a tight-knit group.
They are playing for each other and being very unselfish."
Mills (7-0) has outscored its opponents by a combined 45-3 margin this year.
Lindsey Brown had to make 2 saves to earn her fourth shutout of the season.
