Litchfield Summer Running Results
5k FIELD BREAKS NUMBERS RECORD AT WMF SUMMER SERIES
The 8th running of the White Memorial Cross Country Summer Series saw a record field of 80 finishers in the 5k race last Thursday evening. Litchfield residents led the way for first place in both the male and female divisions. Colin Gannon, 21, finished in 16:15 which placed him 10th on the top ten times list. First female was Isabel Balcezak, 14, in 19:40.
The 2k race had Junior Olympic and Hershey National All-American Lane Maher, 11, Harwinton, dropping down to a shorter race and winning in 7:21, third fastest time over the course. Elizabeth Mona, 12, of Barkhamsted, was the first female in 11:17.
In the 3k competition, Matt Mona, 16, Barkhamsted ran one of the fastest times of the season in winning in 10:09. Ashlynn Cook of Torrington, 14, won the female division in 14:34.
Shadow Pereira, 13, Torrington, showed no ill effects of his run at the Falmouth 7-mile race last weekend, winning the 4k in 17:37. Becky Perugini, 16, of Thomaston was the female winner in 18:09.
The second Night of Miles will be held next Tuesday evening at the Litchfield Plumb Hill Track. First race at 6:30.
The Summer XC series will conclude next Thursday night at White Memorial, also at 6:30.
