Mills boys tennis beats NW 4-1, move record to 12-1...Story by Coach Patrick Linton.
#1 Singles: Trevor Robinson (Mills) defeated Zak Phillips (Northwestern): 6-0, 6-1
Comments: Trevor had some beautifully placed shots down the line and in the corners for winners throughout this match.
#2 Singles: Holden Robinson (Mills) defeated Brandon Casey (Northwestern): 6-2 6-2
Comments: A closure second match between Brandon and Holden today with many games going to deuce. Both players moved really well and seemed to enjoy playing each other.
Lewis Mills 4, Northwestern 1
#3 Singles: Bill Bentley (Mills) defeated Jakrin Lanphouthacoul (Northwestern) 6-2, 6-3
Comments: A very motivated and focused Bill stepped onto the courts today, earning a staright set victory. Jakrin and Bill had numerous long rallies throughout the match, lasting as long as 15-20 rally points.
#1 Doubles: Sinclair Bush and Jake Perfetto (Mills) lost to Dylan Achee and Alec Royer (Northwestern): 2-6, 2-6
Comments: Sinclair and Jake had a tough time today with Sinclair not being able to move 100% due to an issue with his knee. Jake and Sincalir try to focus and gut out a win or even close match, but the team of Dylan and Alec out played us at the net and in consistency, leading to the straight set win.
#2 Doubles: Jeff Molgano and Eric Jameson (Mills) defeated Michael Carter and Eric Brasley (Northwestern): 6-3, 6-1
Comments: Jeff and Eric seemed to have really clicked as doubles team and are playing great doubles as a team. Both Eric and Jeff served very well as well as played aggressively at the net.
This puts us at 12-1 for the season and we have used the loss against Northwestern as a motivator to earn the win. This was the start stretch over the next week coming up with the 1st and 2nd places teams in the league (Housatonic & Shepaug) and a fantastic non-league rivalry with NVL frontrunner Woodland, tomorrow.
