Lewis Mills defeated a defensive-minded Housatonic side, 4-1, despite bombarding the Mountaineer goal with 32 shots on Wednesday.

Senior Paige Marinelli had a goal and two assists to lead the Spartans(4-0).

Junior Hope Sherman, sophomore Bailey Pace, and senior Melinda Noel added goals. Sophomores Emily Nepomuceno and Julia Pearson added assists.

Housatonic's Katie Heacox scored on a 25-yard direct kick at 22:32 of the first half to tie the score at 1-1. It was one of only three shots the Mountaineers had.

"I was happy with the way we responded to some adversity," Mills coach Dennis Fowler said. "Nobody panicked or pouted. We stay focused and kept hammering away."

Mikky Adams and Taylor Anderson combined for 3 saves for the Spartans. Jill Cannon made 14 saves for Housy (1-4).
