Playoff roundup: Gilbert moves on, Northwestern sent packing in baseball playoffs, Wamogo wins tense one in softball. By John Nestor

It's win or go home time in the spring sports season and the Gilbert baseball and Wamogo softball teams live to fight another day while the Northwestern baseball team saw its season come to an abrupt halt.
Robert Weiss went the distance and Devin Molway and Justin Morhardt each homered to lead Gilbert to a 5-2 victory over Immaculate in a first-round game in the state Class S tournament.
The eighth-seeded Yellowjackets take on No. 24 East Catholic on Wednesday at Walker Field with a berth in the quarterfinals at stake.
Housatonic Regional and Terryville also advances in Class S. The Mountaineers posted a 7-6 victory over Trinity Catholic while the Kangaroos edged Coginchaug 4-3. Housy hosts Westbrook in the second round while Terryville is at Stafford.
Thomaston dropped its Class S opener, 4-0, to St. Paul of Bristol.
In Class M baseball Lewis Mills rolled into the second round with an 11-1 victory over Ellis Tech. Bobby Martinotti was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, a double and a run scored for the Spartans, who meet St. Joseph in the second round.
Northwestern was the fifth seed in Class M but got shutout, 3-0, by No. 28 Bacon Academy, ending the season for the Berkshire League champions.
Wolcott Tech (10-11) was back in the state tournament for the first time since 2000 but the stay was short-lived as the Wildcats were blanked 7-0 by Haddam-Killingworth.
In Class L, Torrington dropped a tough 4-3 decision to Watertown.
In softball action Wamogo (12-9) got a triple from Kerri Stolle and she scored on an error on the play for a 1-0 victory over Berkshire League rival Terryville in a Class S first round game. The 21st seeded Warriors advance to face No. 5 Stafford.
In Class M softball, Lewis Mills and Nonnewaug managed one run between them and both were sent packing.
The Spartans were blanked 4-0 by North Branford in Burlington while Nonnewaug was handled 12-1 by Lauralton Hall.
Northwestern had a bye and faces Holy Cross (12-9) in the second round.
Wolcott Tech and Lewis Mills both lost their first round matches in Class M by 3-0 scores. Tech lost to Farmington and Mills was eliminated by Darien.
Lewis Mills defeated Housatonic Regional, 15-12, to set up a meeting with top-seeded Haddam-Killingworth in the girls Class S tournament.
