Raiders fall to Holy Cross, 5-3 in girls soccer.
TORRINGTON: As the Torrington girls soccer tam wrapped up their regular season with a 5-3 loss to rival Holy Cross, head coach looked at his bench and shook his head.
“I have three of my best players out, each might be done for the year,” Longobucco said. “Right up the middle. Starts with Taylor Howe in the goal, goes up to Kendra Covington in middle and the Olivia Morrison farther up.”
Torrington ends their regular season with an 8-7-1 mark and will start their post season on Saturday when the Naugatuck Valley League Tournament starts.
The Raiders will be in the States as well and they await the rankling which come out next week.
‘This team is doing the best with what they have,” Longobucco said, “When you lose your keeper it’s like losing your goalie in hockey or quarterback in football or starting pitcher in baseball. You start moving pieces of the puzzle and soon the pieces don’t fit.”
Howe, Morrison and Kendra Covington are all considered All-NVL players who are tough to replace.
