TORRINGTON: One of the hardest working Titans from the 2011 team has agreed to come back to Torrington for the summer of 2012.
Rich Graef (JR, UMASS, Amherst), will be back to roam the outfield at Fuessenich Park when the 2012 campaign gets underway in early June.
In 2011, Graef was a key catalyst on a team that posted a 27-17 mark and made the Futures Collegiate Baseball League finals in the leagues first season.
His ability to steal a base at any point in a game was a weapon for manager Gregg Hunt and will again be for new Titans head man, Misha Dworken.
His 16 steals were tops on the team and second only to Martha’s Vineyard standout, Robbie Zinsmeister (25).
Graef batted .249 with a team leading 42 hits. He played in all 44 Titans games and was second on the team in runs (20) and triples (2) while driving in 10 runs.
Had two six-game hitting streaks and one five -game streak during the season.
For the Minutemen in 2011, Graef batted .271 with 29 runs scored and 38 hits.
Junior year is an important one for any player looking to move to the next level and Graef will be looking to get himself noticed.
