Stewart, Jefferson and Tuck earn All-AAC First Team. Nurse, Collier and Samuelson also recognized.
STORRS: The University of Connecticut women’s basketball team made themselves known in a big way this season on the court and have now made themselves very well known on the postseason American Athletic Conference awards list as well.
The three Huskies that made the First Team All-AAC are no surprise: Moriah Jefferson, Breanna Stewart and Morgan Tuck. They were joined by Jada Payne (ECU), Courtney Williams (USF) and Alliya Butts (Temple). Jefferson, Stewart and Williams were unanimous selections.
Jefferson also garnered Defensive Player of the Year honors for her shutdown defensive effort this season.
Tuck took home the Sportsmanship award, while Kia Nurse earned a spot on the All-AAC Third team.
The Huskies also placed a pair on the All-Freshman team as Naphessa Collier and Katie Lou Samuelson made the cut.
UConn will be in action in the AAC Tournament when they face the winner of ECU and Cincinnati Saturday at 2 p.m. at Mohegan Sun Arena.
