Stronger Women, Stronger World 5K Obstacle Race to take place on August 5.
TORRINGTON: If there is one thing folks who have met Sara Brewer know for certain is this; she is a very strong and powerful force in her role as Torrington High School’s Athletic Trainer.
So, it only makes sense that Brewer would be a big supporter of a great event that is coming to Northwestern Regional 7 High School next month.
The Stronger Women, Stronger World 5K Obstacle Race will take place at the school in Winsted on Saturday, August 5.
According to their web-site, the Stronger Women, Stronger World 5K Obstacle Race is an event open to ages 10 and up and is a ladies only race, supporting local and important causes in our area.
It is designed to challenge anyone’s fitness level from the dedicated athlete to someone just starting in their fitness journey.
All monies raised by the entry fees will be donated to local charities that benefit women and young girl’s programs.
A year ago, the event raised more than $8700 dollars with the money going to great local organizations like The Susan B. Anthony Project, The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Pink Rose Fund, the Northwest CT YMCA Girls Sports Initiative and the Sunrise Foundation.
This is a serious race with some major (over 20) obstacles, that are including throughout the 5K high school Cross-Country Course where the Highlanders normally dominate.
There are five water stations along the way as well but the main idea of this event is to have fun, work out with friends and family while getting or keeping yourself in shape.
The challenges of day to day life are many, take out some of those frustrations on this course and feel great about yourselves.
Registration begins at 7:30 that morning and ends at 8:45.
The first wave of the event kicks off at 9 a.m.
