Tech girls volleyball now 8-0....Beat O'Brien Tech 3-0.
TORRINGTON: The Wolcott Tech girls’ volleyball team is having one of those seasons they will be talking about for a good long time.
On Wednesday against O’Brien Tech, the streak reached eight straight with a sweep of the Condors, 25-18, 25-6 and 25-14.
A year after winning just seven games and just missing a State Tournament by one, the Wildcats have made the grade and will play in the post-season this fall.
Their 8-0 and still have 11 matches to play before they reach that promise land.
Against a strong Condor squad, the Wildcats took a little while to get going, trailing at one point by a 16-15 score in the first game before Kimmie Stack took over at the service line and started a rally that sparked a 9-2 run for a 25-18 first game win.
From there, the flame had been lit and Wolcott Tech closed out the sweep with game scores of 25-6 and 25-14.
Stack ended the night with seven aces, nine kills and three digs while Casey Farrington paced the ‘Cats with nine aces, 22 assists and a dozen digs.
You could call this season dominant to this point. The Wildcats have lost but four games all year while posting five shutouts.
They lead the Constitution State Conference with that perfect record and take on the second place team (as of today), Abbott Tech a week from today at home.
Their first meeting resulted in 3-0 road win the second game of the season but Abbott has not lost since.
Emily Andrews had nine kills for the victors and Cassie Dablain added seven of her own.
Tech goes deep on their bench, rotating in skill players depending on the situation that faces head coach Ray Tanguay.
A State bid and eight in a row…The Wildcats sit nicely atop the CSC, a place they plan to get used to.
