The 2019 THS Hall of Fame Inductee: Kimberly Longobucco

Kimberly Longobucco

Kim has the amazing distinction of being a “team of one” gymnast at Torrington High School from 1998 to 2001.  Along with this distinction came the honor of being the first THS gymnast to compete at the All-State level.  In 2000 she was named Second Team All-State Gymnast and in 2001, she was chosen First Team All-State Gymnast. She was also a member of the Torrington High School’s Girls’ Varsity Track and Field team from 1998 to 2001, serving as its captain in her senior year.

After graduation from THS, Kim attended Springfield College where she was a gymnast from 2001 to 2002. She graduated from Springfield with a BS Degree in Movement and Sports Studies as well as a Master’s Degree in adapted Physical Education. She completed her doctorate studies at Southern Connecticut State University in 2017 and holds a Doctorate of Educational Leadership degree.

She was a physical education teacher and coach at Fairfield Ludlowe High School from 2007 to 2013. While there, she served as the cross country assistant coach, the girls’ lacrosse freshman coach, the strength and conditioning coach, the field hockey summer conditioning developer and the Unified Sports Team co-founder. She continues to be the gymnastic head coach at the school.

Honors that Kim received in 2013 include CIAC State Gymnastic Coach of the Year, the FCIAC Gymnastic Coach of the Year, and the CT Post Gymnastics Coach of the Year. In 2014 she was named Connecticut High School Coaches Association Outstanding Gymnastic Coach of the Year.

Kim resides in Trumbull, CT and is the principal of Newtown High School.
