The Jordan Williams blog: Assigned to Springfield
In an expected move, the New Jersey Nets assigned Jordan Williams to their D-League affiliate, the Springfield Armor, for much needed playing time.
Since dressing regularly for games after suffering from dehydration in training camp, Williams averaged only 6.2 minutes per game in six appearances, netting an average of 1.0 points and 1.2 rebounds. As a rookie, sitting on the bench and watching a struggling team such as the Nets is hardly a good learning experience.
Williams did not see any playing time in the Nets' prior two games, losses in Los Angeles to the Clippers and at Golden State.
When he gets to Springfield, Williams will get considerable playing time and should eventually see the floor again for the Nets this season. The playoffs are a very long shot for New Jersey and when they are mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, plenty of minutes will be available for Williams to show Avery Johnson and his staff what he was able to learn in Springfield.
The Armor are currently 10-10 and will play host to the Maine Red Claws tonight at 7 p.m. at the MassMutual Center, a game that Williams is expected to play in. We'll have an update tomorrow on the site on how the game went.
For those interested in attending any Springfield home games, tickets range from $9.00 to $66.67.
