The Ray Tanguay report. Wildcats boys volleyball update.
From Ray Tanguay-Oliver Wolcott Tech head volleyball coach.
The Wolcott Tech Boys Volleyball Team traveled to Oxford High School for their second game in a row opening week. The Wildcats endured an offensively minded Oxford High School with aggressive middle hitters.
The games were very close throughout the matches and Oxford was able to gain momentum at the proper time, even though the Wildcats fought back every step of the way. Game scores were 25-16, 25-21 and 25-18.
Wolcott Tech was led by junior setter Aidan Bernhardt with 14 assists, 2 aces and 6 digs. Middle Hitter Chris Speaker added 2 blocks, 11 kills, 5 digs. Outside Hitter Angel Lopez added 1 block, and 5 kills. Libero Cedar Sobek kept the defense alive with 15 digs while Outside Hitter Hunter Miket added 7 digs and 2 kills. Middle hitter Ben Cook has 2 blocks and 3 kills.
The Wildcats are now 0-2 and Oxford moves to 1-1. The Wildcats travel to Hall High School on Friday to play at 4 p.m.
The JV team played a great match against Oxford with a great improvement from their first game yesterday. The JV team consists of 13 freshmen and three returning JV players from last year. After the JV match was completed, Oxford and Wolcott Tech’s new players engaged in a scrimmage to gain valuable touches and both teams had a great time.
