WATERTOWN – The Thomaston High girls cross country team bolted out of the gate less than a month ago and no person or team has caught the Bears yet.

The Bears were at it again Friday at the Veterans Park Invitational in Watertown outdistancing the Naugatuck Valley League and Bristol Eastern for its third invitataional win in three weeks, having previously won the Going to the Sum and Stratton Brook Invites. Thomaston won, 32-65.

Thomaston’s boys team also had a solid day with a third place finish as senior Blake Fenwick took top honors with a seven-second win over Wolcott’s Dave Schlbenflug. Junior Owen McMahon had an impressive eighth place finish.

Once again the girls’ depth proved to be the difference as they took four of the top six spots. Freshmen sensations Sabrina Olsen and Becky Perugini finished 1-2 while sophomore All-Stater Cameron Chaplen placed fifth and freshman McKenzie Blair placed sixth.
