Thomaston ranked 8th in Northeast CC ratings
THOMASTON – The Thomaston High girls cross country team continues to reach new heights. In the current ESPNHS ratings for the Northeast which includes New England, N.Y., New Jersey and Pennsylvania, the Bears were ranked No. 8. They were the only Connecticut to be ranked.
Thomaston is the four-time defending Berkshire League champion and currently the Class S state champion, Coach Mark Olsen’s runners became just the second Class S team in history to qualify for the New England Championships a year ago where they finished eighth.
At the Windham Invitational Saturday, the Bears won the Varsity 3 race, outscoring second place Oxford, 68-88. Thomaston took three of the top six spots led by Becky Perugini (3rd), Sabrina Olsen (5th) and Cameron Chaplen (7th).
Northwestern Regional’s Annmarie Tuxbury won the race, running the fastest time of the day over the 3.1 mile course (18:14).
