Torrington star, Brie Pergola, earns All-State honors.
TORRINGTON: Torrington sophomore sensation Brie Pergola rode her hot shooting hand to a spot on the All-State basketball team, it was announced on Thursday.
Pergola helped the Raiders to a 19-1 regular season and their second Naugatuck Valley League Tournament championship in the last three years.
Her smooth shot and adept court vision helped her end the regular season as the second leading scorer in the NVL with 17.4, behind only Abby Collier at 18.4.
What makes the second year player so unique is her ability to stop and pop from any spot on the floor.’
Pergola can drain a smooth three as easy as driving through the lane before stopping on a dime for a sweet jumper.
During her first two campaigns with the Raiders, head coach Mike Fritch has worked with Pergola to help her realize just how good she can be.
To get to the next level, Pergola will need to show she can take over a game when needed, something Torrington saw signs of at times this year.
The sky seems to be the limit for a Raider who, if she continues to develop, may just get the attention of Division I coaches.
