UConn Seniors Named Naismith Trophy Semifinalists
ATLANTA – Seniors Napheesa Collier and Katie Lou Samuelson were named as two of 10 semifinalists for the 2019 Women’s Citizen Naismith Trophy Monday by the Atlanta Tipoff Club.
UConn is the only program with multiple semifinalists. The Huskies have won 10 Naismith Trophies all-time, the most of any program.
The four finalists will be announced on March 22, 2019, and fans will have a chance to vote for their favorite player of the four beginning that same day through April 3, by visiting naismithtrophy.com/vote to cast their ballot. The fan vote will account for five percent of the overall vote. The 2019 Citizen Naismith Trophy for Women’s Player of the Year will be announced on April 6, 2019. The winner will be honored at her school on a later date.
Collier leads UConn with 20.3 points and 10.4 rebounds per game while Samuelson is second on the team in both categories (18.9, 6.7). The duo have combined for 4,457 career points, the most by a pair of classmates in UConn history.
The Huskies close the regular season Monday at USF at 7 p.m.
