UConn women take on Temple...
TORRINGTON: It’s a double-header of UConn basketball today from the far north and deep southern portions of Connecticut today as the women open the day to the south in Bridgeport while the men stay up north in Storrs for game two later tonight.
First up will be Gino Auriemma and the top ranked Huskies who travel to the Webster Bank Arena for a noon battle with Temple.
Believe it or not, the Owls actually have a winning record against UConn, albeit a 2-1 margin with both of those win coming over 30 years ago.
Temple sports an 8-6 record, 2-2 in the American Athletic Conference while they face a juggernaut who at the moment own a 16-0 record, 4-0 in the AAC.
All five UConn starters are scoring in double figures, led by Breanna Stewart with 18.4 followed by Stefanie Dolson at 13.7.
Dolson joined the 1500 career point club in her last outing, joining Bria Hartley in that category.
Hartley is scoring 13.4 ppg, Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis 11.5 and Mariah Jefferson 10.1.
UConn is 9-1 in Bridgeport, losing only to Duke in 2006 by a 63-61 score in overtime.
