WOLCOTT TECH AT VALLEY REGIONAL

DAY AND TIME: Friday, 6:30 p.m.

LOCATION: Valley Regional High School

RECORDS: Wolcott Tech 0-5; Valley Regional 5-0

LAST WEEK'S RESULTS: Old Saybrook 54, Wolcott Tech 12; Valley Regional 20, North Branford 6

LAST SEASON'S MATCHUP: Valley Regional 32, Wolcott Tech 0

TISCIA'S PICK: Valley Regional 28, Wolcott Tech 8. In the battle of undefeated versus winless, the Wildcats must run the ball successfully to keep the clock moving and this game competitive.

SPORTS SCIENCE MEDICAL ACADEMY AT LEWIS MILLS

DAY AND TIME: Saturday, 11 a.m.

LOCATION: Bristol's Muzzy Field

RECORDS: Lewis Mills 1-3; SSMA 1-4

LAST WEEK'S RESULTS: Hyde Leadership 26, Lewis Mills 0; Coginchaug 41, SSMA 18

LAST SEASON'S MATCHUP: Did not meet, Lewis Mills did not field a varsity team

TISCIA'S PICK: SSMA 18, Lewis Mills 16. In a year or two, the Spartans will pull out a game like this, but right now gaining experience is just as valuable as winning games.

COVENTRY AT HOUSATONIC/WAMOGO

DAY AND TIME: Saturday, 2 p.m.

LOCATION: Housatonic Valley Regional High School

RECORDS: Housatonic 3-2; Coventry 3-1

LAST WEEK'S RESULTS: Housatonic/Wamogo 27, Windsor Locks 13; Coventry had a bye

LAST SEASON'S MATCHUP: Coventry 33, Housatonic/Wamogo 12

TISCIA'S PICK: Housatonic/Wamogo 22, Coventry 16. Sure, it will probably take another 200-yard performace from Tanner Brissett for the Mountaineers to win this one, but I'm not betting against it.

WINDSOR LOCKS AT GILBERT/NORTHWESTERN

DAY AND TIME: Saturday, 2:45 p.m.

LOCATION: Van Why Field at The Gilbert School

RECORDS: Gilbert/Northwestern 4-1; Windsor Locks 2-3

LAST WEEK'S RESULTS: Enfield 31, Gilbert/Northwestern 16; Housatonic/Wamogo 27, Windsor Locks 13

LAST SEASON'S MATCHUP: Gilbert/Northwestern 41, Windsor Locks 0

TISCIA'S PICK: Gilbert 33, Windsor Locks 13. After suffering their first loss of the season, I fully expect the Yellowjackets to respond with a huge effort against a Windsor Locks team they are better than.

WOODLAND AT TORRINGTON

DAY AND TIME: Saturday, 7 p.m.

RECORDS: Torrington 4-1; Woodland 3-2

LOCATION: Robert H. Frost Sports Complex at Torrington High School

LAST WEEK'S RESULTS: Torrington 22, Kennedy 8; Woodland 19, Holy Cross 0

LAST SEASON'S MATCHUP: Woodland 34, Torrington 12 in Beacon Falls

TISCIA'S PICK: Torrington 26, Woodland 23. This is a tough game to forecast as both teams are as evenly matched as they come in the Naugatuck Valley League. I went with the Red Raiders, who are at home and are expecting a large, rowdy Saturday night crowd. Won't surprise me either way, though.
