Wolcott Tech boys soccer on a roll with a 6-2 record, 4-0 at home.
TORRINGTON: The Oliver Wolcott Tech boys soccer team is getting noticed this season around the CTC in 2018 and find themselves in third place thanks to their 6-2 record.
The Wildcats beat O’Brien Tech on Thursday by a 7-1 final behind a hat trick from Colin Riggs and a pair of goals from Colby Suminski and Marc Rich in the win.
Over their past two games, the OWTS offense has been on fire, scoring eight goals in their previous game against Whitney Tech. Tech is unbeaten at home at 4-0 and to watch them on their home pitch is to witness a team that plays very well together.
Anchored in the nets by one of the top goalies in the league in senior Angel Lopez, the ‘Cats have allowed just 10-goals in their eight games while tallying 40.
Wilcox Tech leads the league with a perfect 10-1 mark while Windham Tech (7-2) and Platt Tech are just ahead of OWTS with their 7-2-1 marks.
In the past, just making the state tournament might have been enough for the Wildcats but this year, their sites are set higher. The better the final record, the higher in the rankings a team can go.
The Wildcats travel next Tuesday to take on Kaynor Tech (2-7-1) before returning home to take on Abbott Tech (2-7-2) on Thursday at the high school before playing Bullard Tech at Alvord Park in Torrington on Friday.
