The Wolcott Tech Girls Volleyball Team played the undefeated Wilcox Indians in Meriden to find victory and a trip to the state tournament for the first time since 2003. To put things in perspective, the majority of our varsity team was in second grade in 2003.

There were no stats available for Wilcox Tech at press release time.

A plan that was put in action four years ago fell into place today as the girls volleyball team qualified for the state tournament for the first time since 2003. The Wilcox Tech Girls Volleyball Team led a strong offensive assault on Wolcott Tech, but the Lady Wildcats answered back with strong defense and a smart offense to defeat Wilcox Tech 3-0, ending the Wilcox Tech 10 game winning streak.

The team has really come together on and off the court as a united program. The support of family, friends, and our managers have built a solid foundation for our program to build. Everyone in the gym was pleased that the four years of hard work and dedication has paid off for all involved.

The girls must remain focused, as they have 3 games in a row this week, with Emmett O’Brien on Wednesday, followed by the perennial powerhouse of Terryville on Thursday.

Congrats to the team for their vision and drive to make their dream become a reality.

Wolcott Tech’s record goes to 8-1 and Wilcox goes to 10-1 overall and 8 and 0 in the CSC.

The Wildcats play O’Brien Tech on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 with a 4:00pm jv start, followed by varsity at the Wolcott Tech gym.
