Wolcott Tech wins CSC Western crown with 3-2 win over Kaynor Tech.
TORRINGTON: It’s celebration time at Wolcott Tech as the Wildcats girls’ volleyball team won the Constitution State Conference Western Division regular season title with a 3-2 win over Kaynor Tech.
It wasn’t easy as Kaynor (6-10) took a 2-1 game advantage going into the fourth but a hard fought 26-24 fourth game led to a 15-12 final and the top spot in the league.
As she has most of the season, Casey Farrington led the way with 25 assists, nine aces and a kill while Cassie Dablain added seven kills for Wolcott Tech who improve to 14-3.
Kimmie Stacks recorded six kills and five aces to put a bow on a great run to the title this year.
“We tried our best to give it away,” head coach Ray Tanguay said. “I had just found out this morning that if we won tonight we would take the West.”
It marks the first time a Wildcats girls’ volleyball has won a title in any league.
Tech made it to the Final Four in 2003 while members of the Berkshire League but had never taken the top spot in the league.
Two games remain in the regular season. A matchup with the East champions from Classical Magnet a match against old rival Terryville to prepare them for the post season.
