Gaffney’s Corner for Thursday, February 8, 2024

Special Guests

Segment 1: Torrington High School girls basketball coach Mike Fritch Sr.

Segment 2: Patrick Hinman and Michael Ahoua. THS football.

On Thursday, we celebrated the 500th win by Torrington girls head coach Mike Fritch.

The goal was met after his Raiders beat Watertown by a 49-45 final.

The coach’s record is now 500-213 (.701 winning percentage) with three regular season games to play.

Going back through time with a coach who I have probably covered more than any other in my 25 years was a blast.

I’ll keep folks posted when this episode is up on the Gaffney’s Corner website.

Part Two Hinman and Ahoua. Two remarkable young men who represent the best in THS sports and student/athletes.

Their hard work and dedication to their teammates, their school and their community is second to none.

Ahoua is off to the State Open this weekend and is ranked second in the long jump competition. He is coming off a win in the NVL’s in that event.

Hinman is recovering from a broken leg he suffered during the football season and hopes to be back for the outdoor track season.

His main goal will be to be back on the gridiron this fall.

Two well spoken, personable young men. Great job by all three guests today.
