Applications for the Omar N. Pollick Scholarship are available from the Guidance Departments at both the Torrington High School and Oliver Wolcott Regional Technical School. They are also available online at https://onpscholarship.wixsite.com/form
Applications must be submitted by May 28.
The Omar N Pollick Scholarship Committee awards a one year scholarship in the amount of $1500.00 ($750.00 each of the first two semesters) to a graduating student of Torrington High School, Oliver Wolcott Technical School, or a secondary preparatory or parochial school in the area serving the Torrington community.
The purpose of this award is to aid a qualifying graduate in his/her desire for higher education by deferring some of the costs in the name of Omar N. Pollick, an individual who worked tirelessly for the betterment of local youth, through athletic and community service. The scholarship is awarded to the applicant , who in the judgement of the Omar N. Pollick Committee best meets the following criteria:
- Actively participated in a Varsity level sport.
- Demonstrates financial need.
- Practices good community citizenship.
- Displays good moral character.
- Proven proficiency of high school records, class standing, scholastic average, SAT scores.
Additional consideration will be given by the committee to applicants who have participated in the Torrington Babe Ruth Baseball League.
