Play-in game on tap for Raider girls tonight versus Kennedy at 6.

The Torrington girls’ basketball team will be in action tonight in a Naugatuck Valley League League Tournament play-in game at 6 at the Connie Donahue Gymnasium.

The Raiders 12-8 will face Kennedy. 11-90 at 6 p.m.

Torrington defeated Kennedy by a 43-30 score on January 3.

The NVL tournament has expanded this year.

In the past, the top eight teams were eligible, this year if a team qualifies for the state tournament, they are in the NVL’s.

If they get by the Eagles, the Raiders would be on to Saturday’s quarterfinals which will be played at Naugatuck High School. Torrington will have to stop Kennedy standout Niyah Brown who scored 30 of her team’s 49 points in their 49-48 win over WCA on Wednesday night.

Torrington fell, 46-45 on Wednesday night to Ansonia on a late free throw with just 4.6 seconds left to play.
