How long have you been playing sports?
I have been playing sports for as long as I can remember, I’d say
around the age of five.
Which sports do you play?
I play football and baseball
Which one is your favorite?
Football is my favorite because the energy and love in this game is unmatched. I love baseball too because of the mental aspect of sports and life it teaches you.
Talk about this season so far
I am pleased with a record of 3-2 after the first half of the season. We played some great teams and after not having a season last year I think we have surprised everyone, including our own expectations. I expect even better results in the second half of the year. Executing better on both offense and defense and hopefully continuing our success into the state playoffs.
How did you guys deal with the loss of the 2020 campaign?
The love this team has for the game, and each other is what got us through 2020. It wasn’t easy at all but just sticking together and pushing each other to be great has really helped us get through the struggles of covid and the cancellation of our season in 2020.
Talk about Sean Clinkscales, Exodus Rosado, and Devin Morales.
Sean Clinkscales is an amazing athlete and an even better leader. People feed off his energy and his aggressiveness. I wouldn’t want to take the field everyday with anyone else. Sean is really a special kid and has nothing but greatness ahead of him. Exodus Rosado is the most hardworking kid I know. People don’t really know what goes on behind the scenes but no matter the circumstances in his life, he always has a smile on his face and is always putting others before himself. Exo is the definition of a student athlete, a great leader, and an even better all-around person. Nothing but great opportunities ahead for him as well. Same goes for Devin Morales, I feel he doesn’t get the recognition he deserves on the football field. He works hard every day at practice to get better and is truly a leader and knows exactly how to get his teammates hyped up. Devin is a great leader on and off the field and I know he always has mine, and our teammates backs.
Your receivers have been coming up big in key spots so far. Talk about them.
My receivers, tight ends, and wings are all great athletes and even better people. They always pick me up when I’m down and have taught me to not doubt myself. Malcolm Francis, Mason Stannard, Tyler Zepperi, Matt Adams, Adrian Fernandez, Exodus Rosado, and Brett Fairchild are all amazing athletes and even better people. Wouldn’t want to throw the ball around with any other group of guys.
Future Plans?
I hope to get an opportunity to further my education and possibly my football/ baseball careers at the next level. I’m slowly but surely starting to get into the application process and am just taking things one day at a time, controlling what I have the ability to control.
What does it mean to be a Raider?
I could go on and on about what it means to be a Raider, but to keep it short…. It’s being a leader on the field, in the classroom, and in the community, and when things get hard you face it like a man and figure it out. Coach Rodriguez has done nothing but care for us and love us unconditionally over the last four years of being a part of this team. Nothing but respect for him, and it is an honor to call myself a Torrington Raider. This is everything I’ve ever wanted since I can remember.
