Raiders fall to Greyhounds in NVL play-in game.

Torrington: The Naugatuck Greyhounds used a 17-0 run that lasted from near the end of the first quarter until late in the second to build a big lead the homestanding Raiders could not overcome.

Naugatuck moves on from the play-in game in the Naugatuck Valley League Tournament after their 61-51 win.

Torrington battled back in the second half getting to within two at 48-46 but a big three pointer by the ‘Hounds Derrick Strone (17 points, five 3’s) helped keep the home team from coming all the way back.

Torrington was led by senior Isaac Fennm who continued his strong play inside with 19 points which led all scorers.

The Raiders were held to just 14 points in the second and third quarters. Will Parkhouse added 12 for Torrington.

Jalen Francis added 15 for the Greyhounds who will face top seeded Holy Cross on Saturday in the NVL quarters.

Torrington will await their next game once the state brackets come out next week.
