TORRINGTON: The Torrington girls soccer team travels to take on Seymour tonight in their third game of the 2021 campaign.
They have split the two that kicked things off, falling on the road to an improved Ansonia team before beating up on Derby in their home opener by a 7-0 final.
The Wildcats will be a tough match for coach Mario Longobucco and his girls who had to like how it felt on Tuesday night when they found the back of the net four times in the opening half and three more times in the second half.
Junior varsity players saw considerable time in the second half but kept the pressure on.
A trio of players found the net a pair of times with Leah Darby, Isabella Roy and Vanderee Fritch finding the mark.
Fritch connected on a penalty kick in the first half, a nice upper left-hand corner of the net shot that gave the home team a 4-0 lead.
Torrington kept possession in the Derby side of the field 85 percent of the game with goalie Deliah Depietro barley bothered all night.
The test today will be greater for the Raiders who are still growing as a unit.
