TORRNGTON: Eight games into their 2021 campaign, the Torrington football team finds themselves a win away from achieving one of their goals they set at the start of training camp this past summer.
With their 53-16 win over St Paul on Senior Night, the start of Homecoming Weekend, the Raiders need just to win next week to lock up the Iron Division championship if they can beat Wolcott.
At 5-3, Torrington also finds themselves in the eighth spot in the Class M standings with the top eight teams making the postseason.
Playing into December is every teams goal and if the Raiders can win their last two, they may just be playing on the gridiron during the twelfth month of the year.
After traveling to take on the Eagles next Friday night, Torrington will prepare for their Thanksgiving Day battle with rival Watertown at home at the Robert H Frost at 10:15 am.
On Friday night, the home team jumped out to a 21-0 first quarter lead with scoring runs by Sean Clinkscales (2) and Tyler Semonich.
It was 41-8 at the break and time for a JV second half with a running clock.
Clinkscales would add a third rushing touchdown just before the half as the single-wing offense was clicking on all cylinders.
Malcolm Francis would add a pair pf scores, one on a 16-yard pass from Semonich and another on a 26-yard run in the third quarter.
Something special is brewing in T-Town with their football team.
Stay tuned.
