Raiders pull away late against Wilby in girls hoops action.

Torrington 54, Wilby 26

The Raiders used a 20-0 run over the final 6:14 of the fourth quarter to pull away from Wilby on Monday night to improve to 10-6.

Torrington led 14-1 after one quarter and 25-12 at the break.

Wilby hung tough though, cutting the lead to 11 at 34-23 as the fourth quarter began.

The visitors would hit on a three to start the final eight minutes to get within eight at 34-26 before the Raiders broke out.

Sofia Calabrese started the run with a jumper in the lane. Melisa Duman drained a three pointer which was followed by another three, this time by Annabel O’Marra who scored eight points during the close out.

This was the first of three home games this week for Torrington who host Watertown (10-6) in a key Naugatuck Valley League matchup on Wednesday.  

Friday night, the Raiders host Oxford with the Wolverines sporting a 13-3 mark.
