Titans Outlook: The Titans may just have another jem on the mound in Landell if the remarkable season he is having with the nationally ranked Southern Connecticut Owls, continues this summer.

Pitching on a staff that as of late April had a 1.96 combined ERA and a 30-4-1 record., Landell is 4-1 in seven starts with a tiny 1.57 ERA.

The line only gets better with 46 innings pitched, 48 strikeouts and just eight earned runs allowed.

Teams are batting just .207 against him so far this spring.

Highlights include an opening day 4-1 win over CW Post in which he struck out 13 in seven innings, while allowing just three hits and an unearned run.

Struck out 11 in a 12-2 win over American International in just six innings of work.

Went eight innings in a 13-6 win over St Thomas Aquinas, allowing just six hits, two earned runs.

The Owls have been ranked as high as # 6 in national polls this season and are currently ranked 13th.

Southern is looking to repeat their postseason from a year ago when they made it to within one game of the College World Series but fell just short in the NCAA Division II East Regional’s.

Their 38 wins a year ago set a new school mark that this years team is taking dead aim on.

As a freshman in 2010, Landell made six appearances on the season, all in relief. Finished with a 1-0 record and a 2.93 ERA. Struck out 18 in 15.1 innings of work.

Threw two scoreless and hitless innings of relief against Dowling on 3/14 and struck out two. Blanked Franklin Pierce for three innings while fanning four in a Northeast-10 Tournament game on 5/8.

Did not allow an earned run and fanned four in 3.2 innings of work against Franklin Pierce in an NCAA Tournament on 5/15

Before SCSU: Played baseball and basketball at Haddam-Killingworth (Conn) High School… First team All-Conference selection as a sophomore, junior and senior in baseball…New Haven Register All-Area selection as a junior and senior in baseball…Hartford Courant All-Area selection as a senior in baseball and basketball…All-Conference selection as a sophomore, junior and senior in basketball…Baseball team captain as a senior

NOTES: Two former Titans players from 2010 are having tremendous seasons with Landell and the Owls.

Outfielder Kyle Rosadino is third on the team in hitting with a .353 mark and has driven in 31.

Backstop Nick Deprospo has six home runs and 20 RBI’s to date.
