Torrington native Connor Bierfeldt just wanted the opportunity to prove he could hit anywhere a team put him.

Michael Joseph was looking for the same chance a year ago.

Both are now on the same team in the Baltimore Orioles organization and on Sunday, each helped the Ironbirds to a big win.

Bierfeldt was a monster at the plate, going 3-4 with a pair of doubles, three runs scored with a home run and two RBI's.

Joseph got the win in a 10-4 victory over Staten Island by throwing three innings of shutout ball, allowing just one hit.

Joseph has appeared in three games so far and sport a 1-0 record with a 2.35 ERA.

Bierfeldt is batting .250 in six games.

The Ironbirds play in the New York Penn League, a short season league that runs from June to early September.
