We have one football team left with local ties in Ansonia of the Naugatuck Valley League. The Chargers will face off Saturday against St. Joseph in the Class S finals. Here's a preview:

SEEDS: Ansonia, No. 3; St. Joseph, No. 4

DAY AND TIME: Saturday, 7 p.m.

LOCATION: Rentschler Field, home of UConn football in East Hartford

RECORDS: Ansonia, 11-1. St. Joseph, 9-3.

ROAD TO THE FINALS: Quarterfinals – Ansonia 47, Hyde 26; St. Joseph 42, Woodland 12. Semifinals – Ansonia 46, Montville 15;  St. Joseph 44, Valley Regional 7.

TISCIA’S PREDICTION: Ansonia 30, St. Joseph 28. I’ve been going back and forth on this one and was even leaning towards St. Joseph on our radio show Monday. But, I just can’t find myself to pick against Ansonia again. Until someone stops Montrell Dobbs, I’ll believe it. His postseason performance, 700 yards and 11 touchdowns, has been nothing short of amazing and there’s no reason to believe he will stop now. Another 300-yard, five or six touchdown effort is probably too much to expect, but don’t be surprised to see Dobbs have his way with the St. Joseph defense. Look for freshman Arkeel Newsome, who scored on a 50-yard run in the semis against Hyde, to make a difference for the Chargers.
