TORRINGTON – I want to take this opportunity to spread some really terrific news with fans of Litchfield County Sports.

For the past eight years, you have gotten used to reading the great work of some of the most talented writers in the state bringing you stories you couldn’t find anywhere else.

We have worked hard to spread the good news about the schools and communities we cover and have appreciated the support you have given us throughout this venture.

Our Cable 5 Show, which airs Thursday nights from 8-9 p.m. has allowed us to reach even more people and continued our efforts towards spotlighting the tremendous folks we cover on a daily basis.

Something has been missing though. And we hope to fill that gap with our latest project, the Litchfield County Sports Magazine.

Going into print was not something we originally ever saw ourselves doing, but after hearing from numerous fans of LCS that putting out something that they could hold in their hands was still in demand the decision was made.

Heck, we think everybody is on-line. But that’s simply not the case.

Not many website photos end up on the refrigerator or in a scrapbook like those we all have collected from print throughout our lives.

Most of us still have a clipping from days gone by when we may have had that big hit in Little League or on the gridiron when we scored the game-winning touchdown.

With that in mind, we will launch the LCS Magazine May 1, 2017 as a monthly publication to start with an eye towards more often as time goes on.

It will focus exclusively on local sports with special features that you won’t be able to find anywhere else.

A special “Where Are They Now” section will focus on athletes or coaches who have left their mark on the area over the decades. At least two individuals will be featured each month, one from the years spanning 1960-2000, a second from 2001-present.

Pictures will be spread throughout the magazine and will also be available for purchase.

The Litchfield County Sports Magazine will be available at select locations in Torrington along with being available by subscription if you want it delivered to your house or place of business.

You will still be able to read up-to-the-minute stories on the website whenever you want, along with catching our videos from the Cable 5 Show.

Information on how to subscribe to the magazine will be out soon. We hope you enjoy what we are about to bring to you.

Get ready to read quality scribes like Rick Wilson, Patrick Tiscia, Rich Elliott, John Torsiello and John Nestor in print form.
