TORRINGTON: The guy paid his dues and is getting his just rewards.

I’m talking about one Francesco Graziano, a Torrington High School graduate who is living his dream as a broadcaster for Connecticut Public Television and now a new gig with “Gotta Love CT Hockey”.

When I talk about dues, I mean this is the same young man who used to do the pre and post-game interviews when the Torrington Twisters (now the Torrington Titans) played during the brutal days of July and August.

There was Frankie, dressed in a suit regardless of the temperature on the field, getting the scoop on what just transpired on the field and letting fans hear from their favorite player or manager.

These were not paid jobs, this was pure intern work at its finest and nobody stuck with it as well as Graziano did.

He was and still is, always prepared for the job at hand. He has a passion for what he does and although the paid work took a while to get flowing, Graziano never gave up.

The former Raider could be seen leading the cheers at Titans games as the in-game entertainment coordinator or on the PA keeping fans informed.

His true passion and calling has been broadcasting and his big break came when he got the chance to do some work for CPTV.

Graziano jumped in with both feet and soon found himself producing broadcasts as well as calling game.

Whatever game he could get.

There is video of Roller Derby out there with the smooth pipes of Mr. Graziano behind the mic calling the rumbling and tumbling action.

This spring, a game between the Torrington girls’ softball and Naugatuck gave Graziano a chance to call of game that featured his old high school.

On Wednesday, a post on Facebook announced his latest adventure, this one involving hockey from an existing show that just got some star power with Graziano and former Miss Connecticut USA, Ashley Leach at the helm.

Both bring a passion for broadcasting and a love of the sport of hockey.

The show will air weekly on CPTV and will focus on the various youth hockey programs around the state along with features from current professional hockey players talking about how they got their start in youth hockey.

With the connections both broadcasters have, Graziano from CPTV and Leach from her days traveling the state as Miss Connecticut USA, count on some top notch stories and features.

With Graziano in the mix, count on this one being a hit as well.
