SUPER BOWL PICKS
TORRINGTON: By no means do we pretend to know how to predict any better than the thousands of talking heads you have heard from over the last couple of mind numbing weeks.
Please, can we just play the game!
Here goes.
Timothy W. Gaffney: Since the only way the Jets will ever, it seems, get into the “Big Game” is by buying a ticket, I never have any Super Bowl jitters and the like so I guess that’s something.
In our house, the Steelers, Mrs. Gaffney’s team, keep some semblance of winning alive most years.
So a vote for the Baltimore Ravens is never a good thing for us, plus I’m just real tired of Ray Lewis.
Great player, didn’t change the game like Lawrence Taylor did but has made an impact on his team over the years.
Would not be surprised if the Ravens won but I’m rooting for the 49er’s and their young quarterback who will have his hands full with a crazed defense that will certainly age him by the time this one is over.
Score: San Francisco 34, Baltimore 27.
Patrick Tiscia: On the Ravens' first possession of overtime, Joe Flacco will throw a bomb that is intercepted by Carlos Rogers. However, Rogers will promptly fumble and Baltimore will recover. The Ravens will then hit the chip shot field goal for the win, setting the stage for talking TV heads to nearly combust arguing whether Flacco is elite or not.
Score: Ravens 20, 49ers 17 in OT
The Nestor Household
John Nestor
Super Bowl winner: San Francisco 49ers
Score: 49ers 24, Ravens 20
Why: Something has to come to an end, either Colin Kaepernick's amazing run at quarterback for the 49ers or Ray Lewis' run in his swansong with the Ravens. I just think that Kaepernick's young legs and arm will make just enough plays against Lewis and an aging Ravens defense that is not quite the dominant force it used to be. And I know Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco is playing pretty well so far in the playoffs but I am not sure I totally trust him in a big spot like this.
James Nestor (Patriots fan, sometimes Eagles fan, bandwagon 49ers fan)
Super Bowl winner: San Francisco 49ers
Score: 49ers 27, Ravens 17
Why: 49ers shut down Ray Rice and Ravens game and Flacco, forced to throw the ball a ton, won't be able to make enough plays to win game while Colin Kaepernick and the San Francisco offense will dominate as the game goes on.
Jack Nestor (Giants fan, sometimes Eagles fan, bandwagon Ravens fan)
Super Bowl winner: Baltimore Ravens
Score: Ravens 37, 49ers 17
Why: Flacco will hurt the 49ers with long passes and Ray Rice will score a couple short touchdowns while the Ravens defense contains Kaepernick.
Samantha Nestor
Super Bowl winner: San Francisco 49ers
Score: 49ers 28, Ravens 17
Why: Because the 49ers are going to beat the Ravens!
Enjoy and pass the chips…….
