Litchfield Parks and Recreation and the Litchfield Track Club will host two “Night of Miles” events at the Plumb Hill Track near the Litchfield Intermediate School this summer. The dates of the mile races are July 16th and August 20th, both are Tuesday night events and the mile races will start at 6:30 p.m.

All ages are invited to run a mile on the track, which is a Mondo surface. The Plumb Hill track is made of the same stuff on which the Olympics track events were run at the Beijing and the  London Olympics!

The Plumb Hill Track is a very fast track and is only one of three like it in all of New England. This is a great opportunity to see just how fast you are over the mile distance. Timing of the event will be handled by Sunstroke Timing.  Dave Driscoll, Litchfield Track Club Head Coach, is compiling a list of the fastest times run at the previous nights of miles. Come and run and then see where you rate against the others who have run the “Night of Miles!”

Registration begins at 5:45 p.m. Entry fees are $2.00 per runner. Runners will compete with others in their age groups with the youngest age group running first and the oldest age group running last. Some age groups with very competitive runners can be combined.

Awards will be given for the first 3 in each age group: 9 and under; 10-12; 13-15, 16-18; 19-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60 & over in both male and female categories.

For more information contact meet director, Dave Driscoll at (860) 491-3738 or Litchfield Parks and Recreation at (860) 567-7569.

Litchfield High School is located off of Route 202 between Litchfield and Bantam. From Litchfield take a left at the stoplight onto Constitution Way (just past Stop & Shop). School is next right at stop sign. Track is at top of hill. From Bantam, take a right at stoplight onto Constitution Way.

Now let’s see just how fast YOU can run the mile!!!!
