TORRINGTON: It simply amazes me how much time and money the National Football League has spent on the whole Deflategate nonsense.

Count on your ticket prices going up if you plan on taking in an NFL contest anytime soon.

I didn’t even realize that this was still in the courts! Simply a waste of money that the NFL gets from its fan base in the long run.

Not a surprise to see them maintain this course of action though, this is the same bunch who still doesn’t think that CTE is a real thing. I sometimes wonder if the ones pursuing this have not taken a few too many blows to the head as well.

By the way, Will Smith should have easily been at least nominated for playing the role of Doctor Bennet Omalu, the doctor who first diagnosed the debilitating disease that caused numerous former players to take their own lives.

The things brought up in the movie involving the lengths the NFL will go to suppress things that can hurt their players was so evident in their pursuit of suspending New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady for four games.

Let it go already…..

….Another amazing Torrington Hall of Fame Class was inducted on Sunday evening at the Torrington Elks Club on Litchfield Street.

Seven more deserving folks joined the now 188 strong group that represents the best Torrington has to offer.

We sometimes refer to some banquets as being part of the “Rubber Chicken” circuit because they all seem to run together at the end of seasons and sometimes feature less than stellar food offerings.

Not this night. It’s one that if you are fortunate enough to be invited to, you clear your calendar and make your way to a time that will always feature great people and great food.

Michael Fabiaschi, Gino Fabiaschi, Mike Conway, RJ Poniatoski, Patty Fairchild, Herb Lehmann III and Joe Rinaldi join a pretty special group.

Congrats to all!

….Heading down to the Aqua Turf in Southington tonight to celebrate the Unified Sports Programs around the state.

Torrington’s own Carissa Carbone will be honored for winning a scholarship based off an essay she did explaining how much she gets out of being part of the program.

It will be a room filled with smiles and joy and I appreciate the invite from Gerry Carbone to attend. Pictures and a story on Tuesday morning.
