The Wolcott Tech Wildcats traveled to Hand High School and Lewis Mills to finish off their second week of the season.

At the Hand High School Gym on Wednesday, the Wildcats ran two amazing comebacks, including a 10-point run by libero Cedar Sobek in a game where the Wildcats were at an eight-point deficit with a score of 23 to 15.

Cedar and the team was able to execute the offense and earn 10 consecutive points to win the first set 25-23. In game four, the Wildcats down 18-8 and found their rhythm to tie the score at 20-20, and Daniel Hand was able to control the next few points. While they fell by a 3-1 final, the junior laden team Wolcott Tech Team did an amazing job after their hour and a half bus ride.

Playing well for the Wildcats were Aidan Bernhardt with 20 assists, 3 aces, 5 digs; Chris Speaker had 9 kills, 4 blocks; and Angel Lopez had 6 kills.

On Thursday, the Wildcats had a shorter ride to Lewis Mills, their cross-town rivals. Lewis Mills came into the match riding a four-game winning streak. The Wildcats had a big change in momentum when Mike Hudak and Dudley Vaill stepped onto the court and added extra energy but could not overcome the offensive minded Spartans who powered on to a 3-0 win.

The Wolcott Tech court confidence is building with every game. Aidan Bernhardt added 16 assists, 4 digs; Angel Lopez added 8 kills, 5 digs; Hunter Miket had 5 kills, 8 digs, and Chris Speaker added 2 blocks, 5 kills, and 3 digs.

The Wildcats are now 1-5 on the season.

The Junior Varsity Team continues to impress the coaches with their drive to learn a new sport and is made up of a predominately freshman lineup. The following players have made it to the starting lineup for JV, Dudley Vaill, Nate Dito, Ethan Galinski, Brian Tacuri, Luis Sanchez, Jaden (JO) Ortiz, Ron Redmer, Blake Sanford, and Zach Famiglietti.

The Wildcats play their next match in one week on Monday, April 23 at the Wolcott Tech Gym at 4 p.m.
