How long have you been playing sports and which ones have you tried?

I’ve been playing sports since I was about seven or eight. I played in-house basketball when I was really little along with softball, playing t-ball and then Little League Softball. I also played soccer when I was little. I played all three when I was younger, not sure which ones came first.

Did you play sports at TMS or was that during the time they did not have them?

I played sports in 6th grade only. I played basketball and softball. However, during my 7th and 8th grade years was the period when Torrington Middle School didn’t have sports.

You are a rare three-sport athlete (I give you a round of applause, need more like you). What do you enjoy about taking part in a sport each season?

I enjoy playing sports and I think I would be bored without playing three. I enjoy meeting teammates and being so involved at THS.

Softball is your favorite, followed by basketball and then volleyball, yes?

Softball is my favorite, then basketball, and then volleyball.

What positions do you play in softball?

I am a catcher and play shortstop. I also sometimes play third base. However last year for high school I played first base which I never played before.

What is the key to being a good hitter?

The key to being a good hitter is breaking down your swing to mechanics and taking lots of reps off a tee.

Have you played AAU in any of your sports?

I have been playing travel softball for 4 years this year. I’ve played with the same team for all four years. I also started playing AAU basketball last year.

You are very competitive on the court. Where does that come from?

My family is also very competitive so I think it came from growing up in that competitive environment.

I understand you have a younger sister who will be at THS soon? What does she play?

My sister is in 8th grade, coming to the high school next year. She plays soccer, basketball, and softball. Her favorite is basketball.

The basketball team has showed a lot of promise even though it's a very young team. How have you seen you and your teammates grow?

As a team I think we have all grown together and as individuals. Being so young I think we will continue to grow over the next few years. The freshman this year have definitely helped us this year in more ways than one.

Softball has struggled for a bit now, how do you see the upcoming season progressing?

Yes, softball has been struggling but hopefully this year will be better. I think as long as we continue to improve, we will be okay.

Have you played with your current softball and basketball teammates for a while?

I’ve grown up playing with both my basketball and softball teammates. I started playing PAL travel basketball in 6th grade and I played with both the freshman and the juniors this year. Throughout LLS I also played with all the girls on our team this year.

What does it mean to be a Raider?

Being a Raider means to be very involved in a variety of things at THS and supporting other activities.

Where do you see yourself in 10-years?

In 10 years, I see myself hopefully out of college and working as an engineer. I think I will stay close to home so I don’t think I will be moving too far away. I also hope to be traveling to other places around the world at this time.

Favorite pre-game meal?

My favorite pre-game meal is apples with peanut butter or peanut M&M’s. I have at least one of them before every game.
