THURSDAY NOTES
-- Michael Fabiaschi was promoted back to AA Midland today after spending time in Arizona during extended spring training.
The former Torrington Red Raider will be in the dugout tonight as the Rockhounds square off against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals in Texas League action.
On the mound for Midland tonight will be another former Torrington Twister, Shawn Haviland who went to Harvard before being drafted by the Oakland franchise.
Small world indeed.
-- Finished shooting a video interview earlier today with Carminucci Group CEO Chris Carminucci.
Look for the exclusive footage later tonight from our video guru, Frankie Graziano.
Carminucci talks about the past nine months that have seen the Futures Collegiate Baseball League expand from four to nine teams, a new general manager in Sander Stotland and a new field manager in Misha Dworken.
-- Getting pics tonight of WZBG’s own Dale Jones, who will be out running tonight with a training group from the Litchfield Athletic Club in preparation for the Litchfield Hills Road Race on June 10.
Running the seven plus mile race was on the Jones ’Bucket List’ when he turned 50 earlier this year.
His story will be featured on Monday, June 4 during our exclusive story per day build up to this years event.
--Another former Twister, Steve Geltz, continues to pitch lights out in relief for the Arkansas Travelers in the Texas League. His stats are ridiculous, the Angels organization has no idea of what to do with him.
A 3-0 record with six saves. A below tiny .038 ERA (just one earned run allowed) in 24 innings pitched. He has allowed just 13 hits while striking out 35. Batters are hitting a paltry .155 against Geltz.
